Barn Owls Ceilidh Band
Folky Owls has its very own traditional ceilidh band! Available for public and private events, we’re made up of experienced musicians and come with a caller to direct and guide you through the dances in a friendly and inclusive way.
Ceilidhs are a great way to provide entertainment for all ages at weddings, parties and events - the music is great to listen to as well as for dancing! Don't worry if you haven't been to one before as we have our caller who will direct the dancers through the moves and keep calling with the music as needed.
The ‘Barn Owls Ceilidh Band’ has different options to suit a variety of events and budgets so please feel free to ask any questions as we do our best to make things work well for everyone.
We are based in the South West but happy to travel further afield as our musicians regularly perform around the UK.
Led by David Mitchell, who has been playing for ceilidhs for over 25 years, the ‘Barn Owls Ceilidh Band’ is the collective name to the great musicians we put together for each special event and have got to know through gigs and playing together over many years.
The most popular options are duo and trio for providing an excellent full sound while still fitting in with a variety of events, venues and budgets.
Duo and caller made up of guitar and a melody instrument (usually fiddle/violin).
Trio and caller featuring guitar and two other instruments, usually melody.
When we know your event details, we will provide a quote so you know what to base your decisions on.
We have our own PA, suitable for most types of venue that would host a ceilidh, and optional basic lighting - all covered by our Public Liability Insurance (through the Musicians’ Union).
